Front view of a restored white Art Deco building labelled “Selsey Hall,” featuring symmetrical columns, circular windows, and a central entrance, set along a village high street in daylight.

April got off to a playful start with our social media April Fool's, but while the “new leisure centre” is not real, there is plenty of genuine progress to celebrate!

Chaplin's Reopens

A warm welcome to Josh and Daisy, now open for business at Chaplin’s. Early reviews? Freshly baked scones are already a hit.

The Pavilion – “Fully Iced”

A major milestone has been reached with the completion of the restored poster panels and freshly repainted Art Deco façade. The Pavilion is now looking its best and catching plenty of attention.

Small Hall Restoration Progress

Work on the small hall is moving quickly, with significant upgrades including improved accessibility, new plumbing, structural reinforcements, and insulation. Behind the scenes, a century of history has even been uncovered in the original brickwork.

Community and Outreach

The Trust continues to connect with the community through events, talks, and over 5,000 distributed flyers. Recent highlights include the Selsey Town Meeting and upcoming visits to local groups.

On Screen and In History

Our film “Selsey Pavilion: The Journey So Far” has recently aired on Talking Pictures TV. Meanwhile, a newly acquired vintage poster from the classic “Carry On” film series celebrates the Pavilion’s cinematic past—supporters are invited to help fund its display.

Opportunities for Young Creatives

In partnership with Arts Dream Selsey, two local young people (18–30) can receive funded places at a Chichester Festival Theatre summer workshop, an exciting chance to explore behind-the-scenes theatre skills.

Fundraising and Support

We have received the first £500 from the Co-op Community Fund, with more to come. As larger funding becomes more challenging, individual donations, especially with Gift Aid, are more important than ever.

Looking Back

This month’s historical spotlight takes us to 1936, when the Selsey Players performed J.B. Priestley’s Laburnum Grove at the Pavilion.
