Spring has brought exciting progress at the Pavilion, with restoration work on the Small Hall moving forward at an impressive pace. Trustees are hopeful the space will reopen later this summer, offering a fully accessible, welcoming venue for the community.
Major milestones this month include new flooring, step-free access throughout, electrical upgrades, plasterboarding, and the installation of solar panels to improve sustainability and reduce future running costs. New accessible toilet and baby changing facilities are also taking shape.

Support for framing the recently acquired Carry On Sergeant poster has been fantastic. Thank you to everyone who contributed. The Trust is also seeking support to conserve and display other historic cinema posters linked to the Pavilion’s past.
A touching letter from a viewer of our Talking Pictures TV film sparked wonderful conversations about post-war holidays in Selsey. We continue to welcome memories, photographs, and memorabilia connected to the Pavilion and the famous S.C.A.M.P.S. pantomimes.
Chaplin’s café has undergone a bright new makeover, including a more flexible seating area. Daisy and Josh continue to receive great support from visitors enjoying their freshly baked treats.
Trustees have been busy giving talks, attending events, and promoting the Pavilion through local outreach activities, including a successful Co-op pop-up event where memories of past Pavilion pantomimes were warmly shared.
As restoration costs continue to rise, fundraising remains vital to completing the Small Hall and preparing it for community use later this year. Donations and Gift Aid support are greatly appreciated.
This month’s historical feature looks back to May 2016 and the much-loved production of Tonight at the Pavilion Laurel and Hardy, which brought over 450 people back into the Pavilion auditorium.
