Scouts Concert-Bognor Regis Observer-Wednesday 23 January 1929
Transcript:

Scout Entertainers. The entertainment given by the 1st Selsey Troop of Scouts and the Wolf Cub Pack on Friday evening of last week, showed the amateur artistes in a very promising light. It was highly amusing and enjoyable, and I am certain that when their next concert is announced, it will be well patronised. Every item was received with genuine enthusiasm, encores being frequent. Although all did well, it was impossible not to particularise in one instance, that of Miss Crowdy, who, obviously a born entertainer, gave a first-class performance. This lady is not a Selsey resident, but she comes often with her Scouts to the neighbourhood. Praise must also be extended to the orchestra, which, trained by Col. Moore, gave many beautiful renderings and added considerably to the pleasure of the evening. The programme included a selection by the orchestra, a sketch. "Granny and the Tramp." by the Seagull and Cobra Patrols, a duologue, folk songs by Miss Crowdy and the Cubs, “The old Woman and the Pedlar," "Dilly, Dilly", "Hot Cross Buns", "The Dagger”, sea shanties by the Peewit and Dove Patrol (''A-Roving." "Blow the Man Down," “Shenandoah," and "Down to Hilo“) a recitation by Miss Crowdy, a selection by the orchestra, a song "The Dream Man”, Miss Crowdy and the Cubs, "Ten Little Feet” and a capital playlet “The Area Belle," Characters were sustained by Ranger….., (Penelope). P.L. Tom Chalks (a milkman), P.L. Hazelgrove, (Mrs. Crocken), A.S M. Pitcher, (a policeman), ASM Harry Dance (Tasser, a soldier) [Great credit is due to officers of the troop and pack].
