The Selsey Pavilion Trust has hit a majormilestone with its 50th newsletter edition, marking nearly five years of progress, community stories, and local heritage brought to life.

A Heritage Boost

The latest chapter in the Pavilion’s journey comes with fantastic news — the National Lottery Heritage Fund is supporting the Trust’s bid to convert the small hall into a multi-purpose community space. This boost marks a significant step toward returning the Pavilion to regular community use.

Growing Together

When the first newsletter appeared in December 2020, during the height of the COVID pandemic, it shared “Past Pavilion” stories with just a handful of readers. Fast forward to today, and the newsletter now reaches more than 650 subscribers, with restoration progress and local heritage updates taking centre stage. The team hopes to celebrate the 100th issue with news of events being held inside the fully restored Pavilion.

Festive Fundraiser: A Christmas Carol

There’s festive cheer ahead, too. Arts Dream Selsey will stage performances of A Christmas Carol on 12th, 13th, and 14th December, raising funds for the Pavilion restoration project. Tickets go on sale on 17th November, and full details will appear in the next newsletter. A huge thank you goes to Gillian Plowman for hosting this special event.

Local Heritage on Display

Those who missed the Selsey at War photo exhibition in August will have another opportunity to view it at Beacon Church, East Beach, as part of the church’s annual Remembrance commemoration.

Celebrating Community Spirit

Community pride continues to shine in Selsey. Congratulations go to the Selsey Community Forum, winners of the BBC Radio Sussex “Make A Difference” Community Award for their Buddy Support initiative. The scheme provides everything from grocery runs and pet food deliveries to tech help, language classes, and companionship — all powered by passionate volunteers.

Their win is a reminder of the incredible dedication and kindness found across Selsey. To everyone who gives their time and energy to help others — thank you for making a difference.

👉Here’s to the next 50 editions, and to a bright future for the Pavilion.
