The Selsey Pavilion, a cherished piece of local heritage, is undergoing a remarkable transformation thanks to the tireless efforts of the Selsey Pavilion Trust (SPT). Since acquiring the historic theatre in February 2024, the Trust has made impressive strides in its restoration journey, reroofing, insulating, installing new flooring, and reinforcing the structure with a steel frame. The beautifully restored façade, complete with new bullseye windows and main doors, now stands as a proud symbol of community-driven preservation.

Funding the Future

With over £650,000 already invested in acquisition and restoration, the Trust has relied on generous support from national and local funders, including the National Lottery Heritage FundCommunity Ownership Fund, local government grants, private foundations, and individual donors. A new grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund has recently been secured, but previous funding streams have ended, and reserves are running low.

The next phase of restoration includes:

• Refurbishing the main auditorium, balcony and toilets

• Installing theatre rigging

• Decorating and fitting auditorium seating

This will transform the Pavilion into a vibrant, multi-use venue for cinema, theatre, music, dance, and community events.

Get Involved: Upcoming Events & Community Initiatives

SPT is calling on the local community to rally behind the restoration effort. Here’s how you can support:

Quiz Night – 22nd November 2025

A Christmas Carol – 12–14 December 2025

Grand Auction – Early 2026

SPT is seeking donations of quality items and vouchers for meals, holidays, and services. Unused gifts, antiques, and jewellery are especially appreciated.

To ensure transparency, the Trust have published a Funding Needs Overview detailing specific restoration goals and associated costs.
