Denholm Elliot. and Sheila Sim head the outstanding cast. " DRUMBEAT." starring Alan Ladd. is the story of an Indian uprising led by an outlaw band of Modocs who are ravaging the California -Oregon border. Veteran Indian fighter Johnny MacKay is summoned to Washington in 1869 by President Grant and is appointed Peace Commissioner, with the task of subduing the uprising without bloodshed.
