PAVILION, SELSEY. Bud Abbott and Lou Castello combine their talents again "ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET CAPTAIN KIDD," a production in Supercinecolor. Charles Laughton portrays the infamous Captain. The story tells how Captain Kidd sails its gripping his pirate crew to the island of Tortuga for a rendezvous with a beautiful blonde buccaneer. Kidd mistakenly receives a love note while a map indicating hidden treasure falls into the hands of two tavern waiters. A frantic and hilarious race for the treasure begins. Dennis Morgan portrays John Keith, a person wrongly convicted of murder in "RIVER'S END." He escapes his guard and is pursued by Sergeant Conniston of the Royal Mounted Police. Before Conniston dies of cold, Keith convinces him that he is innocent of the crime. Conniston insists that Keith. who bears a striking resemblance to the Mountie puts on his uniform and breaks down, and pretends he is Sergeant Conniston. Under the disguise, Keith returns to River's End to catch the real killer. The Technicolor production of "THE DESERT SONG" co-stars for the first time two of America's most popular singing stars, Kathryn Grayson and Gordon MacRae. The beautiful Miss Grayson portrays the flirtatious Margot and Macrae is cast as the legendary El Khobar, leader of the Riffs. A third star is Steve Cochran playing the suave Captain Fontaine of the French Foreign Legion. The glorious music of Sigmund Romberg is blended in a modern-day tale of desert adventure and romance as Gordon MacRae leads his embattled Riff riders against the treachery of an unscrupulous sheik in order to win the favour of his people and the love of the beguiling Margot.
