PAVILION, SELSEY. I'LL GET BY," the 20th Century-Fox Technicolor musical, starring June Haver, William Lundigan, Gloria de Haven, Dennis Day and Harry James, comes to the Pavilion, Selsey, with "THE MAN WHO CHEATED HIMSELF," for the first three days, next week. Containing 15 song-hits of bygone days, "I'll Get By" is a story about a young song plugger who sets up business on his own as a music publisher. Only the financial assistance of his secretary keeps him going until an amateur song writer turns up with a new tune and the funds to get it published. The publisher gets an introduction to an attractive and popular singer with the idea of enlisting her aid in putting over his wares, but falls head over heels in love with her. There is a misunderstanding and a quarrel and he loses her only to find her again when she goes out to the Pacific to entertain troops during the war. "GOODBYE, MY FANCY," the feature for the second half of the week, starring Joan Crawford, Robert Young and Frank Lovejoy, tells the carefree story of a lovely woman politician who returns to her old college for an honorary degree and finds her old sweetheart. Joan Crawford gives one of her rare performances as a comedienne in the role of the politician who tries to educate a college president and winds up taking a few lessons in love.
