Women's Institute Meeting-Chichester Observer-Wednesday 11 June 1930
Transcript:

W. I. Birthday. Selsey Women's Institute celebrated its ninth birthday on Wednesday, June 4th. The meeting took the form of the annual sale of work, which realised over £11. The President, Miss Hillman, cut the birthday cake, and afterwards Mrs. Sayers gave a very interesting and amusing account of her visit to the National Federation annual general meeting at Blackpool. There was an exhibition of the rugs and other handwork, which gained stars at the Group Exhibition at Bosham on May 28th. A competition — guessing the weight of the president — was won by Miss M. Knight, and “the weight of the birthday case" was won by Mrs. Denman and Miss Hunt. An excellent musical programme was arranged by Denman and included songs by Miss J. Langford, and pianoforte duets by Miss Denman and Miss Vince.
