Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1920-1929
Women's Institute. A sale of work, organised by the Selsey branch of the Women’s Institute, was held in the Pavilion on Thursday last and turned out a huge success. As usual in Selsey, many people at once offered their services, and the difficulty usually is not to find the volunteers, but to pick out the most useful. Those ladies who came forward this year were in charge of stalls as follows: Cake stall, Mesdames Lamb and Godel; Provision, Mesdames Beatty and Male; Needlework, Mrs Ponders and Miss Greenwood and Mrs Wood; flowers. Mesdames Chambers and Stuart; White Elephant, Mesdames Johnson, Martin, Hare and helpers. Tea was catered for by a special committee and everyone commented on the way in which arrangements were carried out. The Institute’s birthday case this year was presented by Mrs A. A. Humphreys. The whole affair resulted in over £33 being raised.
