Film Preview – Bognor Regis Observer – Saturday, 25 December 1948
Transcript:

PAVILION, SELSEY. To the people of London's East End, waking to the sound of rain, it looks like being just another wet Sunday. But to the Sandigate household it proves to be different, for a former resident is back in the district. He is Tommy Swann (John McCallum), an escaped convict who returns to Rose (Googie Withers), his former girl friend, now married to a stolid middle-aged man. Their revived romance during his last hours of freedom affects the life of more than one person in "IT ALWAYS RAINS ON SUNDAY "—showing on Monday for three days. A human story of a woman's search and sacrifice for a brief moment of happiness completes the week's entertainment, with Margaret Lockwood starred in "THE WHITE UNICORN." Dennis Price is the man for whom Margaret severs her frustrated marriage to Ian Hunter, only to find happiness cut short by the sudden death of her second husband.
